our mission
“What I try to tell young people is that if you come together with a mission, and it’s grounded with love and a sense of community, you can make the impossible possible.”
The mission of this project is to activate historic properties by using the power of art. We believe that there is a problem within American cities of historic buildings being constantly underappreciated, underfunded and, generally, misunderstood. We also believe that artists, too, have historically struggled to receive the recognition and appreciation they deserve for their role in shaping society. With that in mind, this project is about education - specifically, educating you, the spectator. We hope to teach by telling the (hi)stories and narratives that once lived in the properties we are working on; by relaying the importance of the lives of all those portrayed in the murals created; and, by introducing you to the present-day activists and artists who actively and proudly shape our city.
Said differently and more simply, our mission is to inspire you to learn more about the city of Atlanta.
