Rem Hellmann was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. An avid soccer player from the time that he could walk, he was recruited to play soccer at Tufts University in Medford, MA, where he is currently a senior pursuing a degree in International Relations with a concentration in Globalization and a minor in Economics. Rem aspires to work in the field of residential real estate, but hopes to shift the focus from that of pure profit to one of creating more affordable and sustainable homes and communities. In order to achieve this, he plans on eventually attending GA Tech to pursue a Masters in Real Estate Development (MRED). For Rem, his career interests are simply a means to his broader, more ambitious goal - that of rethinking American city planning and design. With these more equitable ideas of real estate and urban development in mind and in search of mentorship, Rem applied to and was selected for the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U). One of Rem's ideas morphed into this project, a more artistic approach for achieving his urban goals, and Elevate Atlanta was the perfect opportunity to showcase the results. Rem has always been a thoughtful and passionate advocate for community improvement. To that end, Rem will soon be traveling abroad to Madrid in order to better understand the work being done there regarding the intersection of urban planning and real estate development. Ultimately, Rem hopes to bring this knowledge back to Atlanta, share it with some of Atlanta's key real estate players, and begin to revolutionize our city so that Atlanta becomes a beacon of affordable and sustainable development for the nation.
